Twentieth International symposium on mine planning & equipment selection MPES 2011 took place in Almaty, 12-14th October.

 

Totally 180 people from 30 countries including representatives of Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akimate of Almaty City, representatives of large mining and metallurgical enterprises of Kazakhstan (ArcelorMittal Temirtau, Kazakhmys Corporation LLC, Kazatomprom) took part in symposium.

 

The symposium MPES 2011 took place in discussion format of papers presented at two plenary sessions and twenty session conferences, as well as during poster session dedicated to study the following main issues:

  • Design and Planning of Surface and Underground Mines;
  • Mining Equipment Selection and Mining Automation;
  • Efficient Reclamation, Mine Closure and Mining Waste Disposal Methods;
  • Geomechanics, Safety of Mining, Economic Research and Feasibility Studies, Reserve Estimation;
  • Solving of Social Issues by Companies of Mining Industry;
  • Information Technologies in Mine Engineering and Management;
  • Ecological Aspects of Mining Engineering and Mineral Processing.

 

Two sessions of "Non-ferrous metallurgy of Kazakhstan – history and modern condition" and "Innovative technologies in Mining and Metallurgy Complex of Kazakhstan" were dedicated to memory of S.T. Takezhanov, academician of International academy of engineering and National academy of engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Speakers consecrated life and creative activity of S.T. Takezhanov, his accomplishments and achievements, and highlighted the issues raised by them, particularly on complex processing of mineral raw materials, and at this stage.

At the symposium an exhibition of "State-of-the-Art Technologies, Machinery and Equipment for Mining and Metal Production Sector" took place, Kazakhstan’s and foreign companies engaged in supply of mining equipment and laboratory equipment for mining and metallurgical complex (LSH-International and ESSA-FLSmidth, Australia; Krusz-Serwis.Pl, Poland; KRISAnalyt, Kazakhstan and others) attended in it.
