From October 14 to 16, 2026, a delegation of the Branch of the RSE “NC CPMRM RK” “D.A. Kunaev Institute of Mining” took part in the Second International Mining Forum “Partnership for Development.” The large-scale industry event was held in Bishkek at the site of the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razzakov (KSTU).
The key event of the forum was the plenary session, during which strategic directions for the development of the mineral resource sector, issues of digitalization of geological exploration and subsurface use, and the introduction of “green” technologies in mining were discussed. The Director of the D.A. Kunaev Institute of Mining, Yerzhan Uteshov, delivered a welcoming address. He noted: “Our Institute has many years of experience in cooperation with leading companies and scientific organizations of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Today we propose moving from accumulated experience to concrete practical initiatives. One of the key steps could be the creation of a Central Asian Scientific and Technical Council on Mining Issues – a permanent platform for strengthening scientific partnership, exchanging experience, and jointly developing solutions aimed at developing the mining industry of the countries of the region.”
Deputy Director for Research Yevgeny Shabelnikov presented a conceptual report devoted to the role of strategic partnership in ensuring sustainable development of the industry in the region.
The forum program covered the most important aspects of modern mining science and production. During thematic sessions and panel discussions, participants reviewed advanced solutions for open-pit and underground mining, the application of digital innovations, issues of assessing geodynamic risks at high-altitude deposits, and geotechnical support of mining. Particular attention of experts was attracted by a round table devoted to the training of new-generation engineering personnel. During the discussion, current requirements of modern production and opportunities for practice-oriented education were considered.
Within the framework of the forum, productive negotiations were held with representatives of leading scientific organizations and subsoil user companies of Kyrgyzstan. During the meetings, firm agreements were reached on bilateral cooperation and regular exchange of experience. A series of joint working meetings was planned for the targeted search for effective engineering and technological solutions to current problems in mining.
One of the main practical outcomes of the trip was the decision to create a joint scientific and technical council. This initiative will make it possible to bring interaction between scientists and industry practitioners to a qualitatively new, systemic level.
We are confident that combining the scientific and practical potential of our countries, as well as the exchange of advanced technologies, will give a powerful impetus to the sustainable development of the mining industry throughout the Central Asian region.
