Metallurgist's Day at the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan

19.07.2026

On the eve of Metallurgist's Day, the National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter referred to as the NC CPMRM RK) held celebrations to mark the professional holiday.

The NC CPMRM RK is the core scientific organization responsible for the scientific and methodological development of the country's mining and metallurgical industry. For over 30 years, the company has been developing scientific products for domestic and international subsoil users.

The contribution of NC CPMRM RK scientists to the development of the precious metals industry cannot be overstated. The name of Lyudmila Bolotova, a leading specialist in the hydrometallurgy of precious metals and copper and a candidate of chemical sciences, is etched in gold letters in the history of the gold mining industry. Based on her designs, gold recovery plants have been built to process ores from the Akbakai, Pustynnoye, and Dolinnoye deposits (AK Altynalmas JSC), Severny and Yuzhny Raygorodok (RG Gold LLP), and Akbeit (Aina Resources JSC), with a total gold production of over 12 tons per year.

Under the leadership of Era Li, one of Kazakhstan's leading experts in mineral enrichment and processing, innovative ore processing technologies have been developed and implemented at deposits such as Gagarinskoye (Gagarinskoye Mining and Processing Plant), Kundyzdy (Aktobe Copper Company LLP), and Khadzhikongan (Kazakhmys Corporation LLP). The enrichment technologies developed are used at enterprises in Russia (Rubtsovsk Enrichment Plant) and Kyrgyzstan (Bozymchak Mining and Processing Complex).

The research of Larisa Kushakova, a candidate of technical sciences specializing in the metallurgy of ferrous, non-ferrous, and rare metals, has formed the basis for processing ores at more than 70 deposits in Kazakhstan. The results of this work have been implemented at leading metallurgical enterprises such as Kazzinc LLC and Kazakhmys Corporation LLC. Enterprises in Armenia (Sagamar CJSC), Tajikistan (TA LLC SP Anzob), and France (AXTER SAS) are using Kazakh technologies.

Following the example of their elders, young researchers have also achieved significant success. Among them is Professor Alibek Baisanov, an accomplished practitioner in the field of high-temperature process physics and chemistry. Under his leadership, ferroalloy production technologies were developed and implemented. A team of scientists, working with production personnel, provided scientific support for the implementation of ultra-powerful DC arc furnaces for the production of high-carbon ferrochrome at the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant. The developed technology has enabled the production of up to 440,000 tons of products per year, increased the efficiency of chrome ore processing, reduced production costs, and strengthened the export potential of Kazakhstan's metallurgy industry.

As part of the Metallurgist's Day celebrations, employees of NC CPMRM RK who made significant contributions to the industry's development were presented with departmental awards and Certificates of Honor.
