The General Director of the RSE “National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan” Adlet Dogambekov took part in the first meeting of the Consultative Mechanism of Industry Ministers of the C5+1 Countries. The event was held on September 14, 2026, in Seoul as part of the first “Central Asia - Republic of Korea” Business Summit.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yersayin Nagaspayev and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources of the Republic of Korea Kim Jung-kwan.

For the first time in 34 years of diplomatic relations, the five Central Asian countries came together with the Republic of Korea to discuss a common vision and prospects for expanding cooperation in the “C5+1” format in the areas of investment, technology, industrial infrastructure, critical minerals and global supply chains, workforce development, and more.

In his speech, Yersayin Nagaspayev stressed that Kazakhstan, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.K. Tokayev, has entered a new stage of development, with an emphasis on large-scale reforms enshrined in the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and aimed at strengthening investor confidence. According to Y. Nagaspayev, “the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Seoul will open up new opportunities for further expanding cooperation and give additional impetus to the development of the entire range of Kazakhstan-Korea relations.”

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Korea and the Central Asian states on cooperation in industry and supply chains was signed, and a Joint Declaration was adopted. In total, 78 memoranda of understanding were signed at the Kazakhstan-Korea business roundtable in areas such as the construction of a gas processing plant, the expansion of a petrochemical plant, the development of the Alatau “smart city,” mobility, and cooperation in artificial intelligence. Of these, the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed 15 documents worth a total of $401.9 million.

The “C5+1” platform is aimed at expanding practical industrial cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea. Last year, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the Central Asian countries and South Korea amounted to about $12 billion. More than 1,000 joint companies operate in the manufacturing industry of these countries.
