Young researchers from the Zh. Abishev Chemical-Metallurgical Institute – a branch of the RSE "National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan" – are developing technologies to produce ferrotitanium using complex titanium-bearing reducing agents based on off-grade ilmenite concentrates and high-ash coals.
Scientists are investigating the feasibility of using the resulting complex titanium-bearing alloy to smelt ferrotitanium with a titanium content exceeding 65%.
