SCIENCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONS

First Deputy Director General, Professor Dosmurat Aitkulov, participated in an off-site meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held in Kyzylorda on the topic: "Strong Regional Science – Strong Region."

The meeting was chaired by the President of the NAS RK, Academician Akylbek Kurishbayev, and opened with speeches by the Acting Akim of the Kyzylorda Region and First Deputy Akim Daniyar Zhanalinov, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek.

The meeting was attended by deputy akims of the region and heads of departments of the akimat, leading scientists from the country, representatives of research institutes and scientific centers, higher education institutions, as well as representatives of manufacturing and business. An exhibition of the results of scientific and innovative developments was organized. Academy members and scientists from various regions of the republic joined the event online.

During the event, Dosmurat Aitkulov presented a report on "Integrated Processing of Mineral and Man-Made Raw Materials in the Kyzylorda Region: Problems and Prospects," highlighting scientific and innovative projects implemented at the National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan and outlining promising areas for future work.

Particular attention was paid to developments in ore processing at the Shalkiya, Balasauyskandyk, and Kurymsak deposits located in the region, as well as a rice husk processing project being implemented at the Center's pilot facility. He shared ideas on the possibilities of producing new products using other types of raw materials in the region.

The developments presented generated considerable interest. Proposals for implementing these developments in production in the region were voiced, and preliminary joint decisions were made.

Overall, this offsite meeting can be assessed as meaningful and productive in terms of developing regional science and strengthening interactions between science and industry.
