In Almaty, rice husks will be used to produce durable rubber

A new production facility for the production of silicon-carbon composite has been launched in Almaty. According to the Ministry of Industry, the project is unique in the use of renewable plant raw materials. The plant uses rice processing waste, rice husk. The extracted material will help produce harder and more durable rubber.

It is noted that the creation of the production was preceded by a long stage of scientific research. Back in 2004, the National Center for Integrated Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan formed a separate scientific direction for the disposal of rice husks. 

Over the past 20 years, the project's developers have received more than 15 patents for inventions in the field of recycling high-tonnage waste and the use of silicon-carbon products in various fields of industry and agriculture.

The design capacity of the new production facility will be 1.5 thousand tons of silica per year. It is noted that the composite that is planned to be produced has a wide range of applications. 

"The creators of the products rely on the production of rubber-technical products. The silica-carbon material as a filler provides an increase in the rigidity and hardness of rubbers. It is in this industry sector that scientists plan to occupy their niche," the Ministry of Industry said.
